Former national Captain Rashad Jules struck two first half goals for Ellerton Football Club, securing a tremendous 2-1 result over Premier League rivals Brittons Hill in the second round of Group E matches.

As the competition intensifies, Ellerton now moves onto six points after two consecutive wins on Saturday night in the Prime Minister’s Cup tournament played at Greens in St George.

Ellerton’s attacking midfielder and deadly left-footer Rashad Jules, dominated the early stages, scoring twice in quick succession. Jules opened with a clinical finish in the 17th minute and followed it up just six minutes later, netting his second in the 23rd minute to give Ellerton a commanding 2-0 lead.

Brittons Hill, determined not to go down without a fight, especially after they destroyed Maxwell Club 11-1 in their first-round match, managed to score in the 79th minute courtesy of one of their leading attackers, Corey Hoyte. Despite Hoyte’s late strike, it was sorely in vain, and Ellerton held on to claim the win.

This result follows Ellerton’s 2-1 victory over Greens United in their opening match, with captain Shakille Belle leading the team to a strong start in the competition.

Meanwhile, Maxwell Football Club suffered a heavy 6-1 defeat at the hands of Greens United, earning their first two points in Group E.

Maxwell’s only goal came in the 48th minute from Tyriq Holder, but it was a mere consolation as Greens United had already taken full control of the match.

Norrin Corbin was the star of the night, completing a first-half hat-trick with goals in the 11th, 27th, and 29th minutes. Dalandro Best added a fourth in the 41st minute, while second-half strikes from Teondre Hinkson (59th) and Xavier Webster (62nd) sealed a well deserved victory for Greens United.

In Group B, the final 20 minutes of the previously postponed match between Whitehall Titans and Wotton were completed on Saturday night at Greens. The original fixture had been halted due to poor weather two weeks prior.

Wotton triumphed 2-1, with Omani Leacock scoring in the 17th minute and striker Jabari Chandler netting in the 75th minute. Whitehall’s Rashad Phillips pulled one back in the 54th minute, but it was not enough to prevent Wotton from claiming the win.

There were two matches played on Friday night in Speightstown, St Peter – Weymouth Wales increased their lead to six points in Group D.

Coming up against Technique Club, Wales won 3-1 with a goal each from Ackeel Applewhaite (2’nd), Romario Harewood (18th) and Kemar Headley (51th). Scoring for Technique was Captain Antonio Weekes in the 43rd minute.

Silver Sands secured their first three points of the competition with a 3-1 victory over Checker Hall.

Silver Sands’ goal scorers were Renaldo Sargeant in the 45th while Derrine Gale-Forde backed it up with a brace in the 60th and 90+7th minutes. The lone scorer for Silver Sands was Azarl Collymore in the 63rd minute.

Group F action continues tomorrow (Wednesday) with Martindales Road facing United Stars Alliance from 8:00 pm at Friendship, St Michael. The previously scheduled match between Empire FC and Cavehill FC has been postponed until further notice.
