There was a hive of activity at the Bridgetown Port today as four cruise ships brought 8 000 passengers.
Two of the vessels- sister ships MSC Magnifica and Explora II- made their inaugural visit to Barbados.
Minister of Tourism Ian Gooding Edghill, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Barbados Port Inc David Jean-Marie and other officials welcomed the captains of both vessels and their crew to the island during an official tour.
The Explora has a capacity of 922 passengers and is a luxury cruise ship while the MSC Magnifica offers a relaxing family oriented cruising experience with a capacity of 3 223 passengers.
Gooding-Edghill said he looked forward to a long and beneficial partnership between the sister vessels and Barbados and thanked the captains and crew for their hospitality. (SZB)
