Local NewsTechnology Company official points fingers at Bajans amid $1.2M fraud allegations by Emmanuel Joseph 30/11/2024 written by Emmanuel Joseph Updated by Barbados Today 30/11/2024 2 min read A+A- Reset Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 3.4K TKY Media, the embattled company that closed abruptly amid allegations that it was operating like a Ponzi scheme, has made the startling claim that Barbadian depositors defrauded the company of $1.2 million. In the latest twist to the saga, in which over 3 000 investors fear they may never see returns, the company’s community administrator, known only as Molly, has informed depositors—referred to as employees—that she will soon publish the names of those she accused of fraud. Apologising for the company’s closure which has left investors in the red, she insisted via the company’s online chat platform that TKY Media is a legitimate business. The Financial Services Commission (FSC) has already informed Barbadians that TKY Media was never registered with the regulator. “Due to some people who have damaged the company’s interests and not returned the company’s employees’ deposits, many of our employees have not been able to get their deposits back. Soon I will be publishing a list of Barbadians who have defrauded TKY employees of their funds,” the spokesperson told employees. “We have asked for funds from these people many times. But they have not been willing to return the funds of the Barbadians. They try to put all the blame on the company so that they can use the money for their own living expenses. The amount of money defrauded is over USD$600 000 (BDS$1.2 million) in deposits.” She added that this money involves more than 3 000 Barbadians. She said: “The deposit will be refunded based on the amount of deposit you paid and the time you worked. Employees who booked L5 (level 5) and those who became L4 and L3 will be given priority to have their deposits refunded.” Molly addressed questions from some depositors who queried why the company could not use alternative funds to return the deposits. She blamed the alleged freezing of company funds and accused certain management officials in Barbados of misappropriating employee deposits for personal purposes. “It is because of these people’s greed that they stole the company’s money,” Molly asserted. “We will soon send you a list of some TKY Barbados management who defrauded the bottom employees and tell you how much funds of Barbados employees these people have withheld,” the representative vowed. She also said she plans to publicise information about “these scammers” through various groups, alleging that some have even issued threats against her. TKY Media maintained offices in 2nd Avenue, George Street, Belleville, and Lower Collymore Rock. emmanueljoseph@barbadostoday.bb Emmanuel Joseph You may also like West Terrace Primary celebrates sporting, academic excellence at graduation 11/07/2025 Govt to launch parenting classes 11/07/2025 Barbadian student shines in Commonwealth essay competition 11/07/2025
