A 36-year-old man has been remanded to prison for the next 28 days in connection with the murder of Sergeant Antonio Rochester.

Omel Justin Walrond of Tudor Bridge, St Michael, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, accused of murdering Rochester on January 2. He was not required to plead to the indictable charge.

Sergeant Rochester, a 50-year-old police officer with over 30 years of service, died in a hit-and-run incident.

His alleged killer will make his next appearance before the chief magistrate on February 6. (BT)
