A solid entertainment lineup at Agrofest

Day two of Agrofest 2025 saw a solid entertainment lineup serving up a musical experience catering to every taste.

Early in the evening, the Heritage Band, led by vocalists Eddie Griffith and Tamara Boyce, transported the audience to another era with a genre-spanning set. 

Accentuated with a distinctly Barbadian touch, their set even incorporated spouge. Boyce paid tribute to the legendary Wendy Alleyne before showcasing her versatility with her rendition of the reggae classic Telephone Love. 

Fellow lead singer Griffith also impressed with smooth vocals on Maxi Priest’s Wild World, maintaining the nostalgic vibe with timeless hits like Ain’t No Stopping Us Now by McFadden & Whitehead and Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder.

The extravaganza continued with the Simón Bolívar Latin Caribbean Orchestra, part of Venezuela’s prestigious National System of Youth and Children’s Orchestras and Choirs. As they took centre stage, they proved that music transcends language. The ensemble not only performed selections from their homeland but also thrilled the crowd with popular local songs.

Admitting that they did not know English well, their surprise soca offerings were even more well received as they entertained with Edwin Yearwood’s Home Sweet Home, Bruce Lee Almightee’s Tomorrow, Lil Rick’s I’z a Bajan, the Mighty Gabby’s Emmerton and Dr Cassandra, and Problem Child’s hit Holiday. Igniting the audience, their energy drew fans closer to the stage to dance to their infectious beats.

The momentum only intensified as some of soca’s brightest stars backed by the powerhouse 4K the Band took the spotlight. The ladies opened this segment with high-energy performances from Cheri, Azizi Clarke, and Faith Callender, who teamed up with her soca bestie, Nikita. The dynamic duo of Mole and Brucelee Almightee unleashed a string of their biggest hits, working the crowd into a frenzy with their interactive and high-octane stage presence.

Capping off the night was none other than Lil Rick, the undisputed energy king of soca. With his trademark dance moves and relentless energy, he commanded the stage, keeping the ecstatic audience on their feet until the final note with tunes including All is Rum, Mind Off and True Story. (STT)
