The spirit of carnival took over the city streets on Saturday as the University of the West Indies Cave Hill campus’ KadUWIVAL carnival jump brought an explosion of music, energy, and revelry. The pulsating sounds of the region’s most popular hits blared from the music trucks, setting the perfect vibe as the festivities kicked off just outside the Barbados Port under the watchful eyes of the Barbados Police Service and the campus security team. As temperatures soared and revellers worked up a sweat, a light sprinkle of rain provided welcome relief, cooling down the crowd without dampening the vibes. Savouring every moment, the procession moved at an energetic yet steady pace, along the Mighty Grynner Highway, which was temporarily closed to accommodate the activities. Curious onlookers lined the streets, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere as those enjoying the party, waved flags from across the region, celebrating in true Caribbean style. DJ Gunner, part of the Legacy Team, kept the crowd hyped. The exciting deejay lineup, which featured the Legacy Team and Ramon G, had no trouble keeping the energy high. However, the excitement reached another level when Lil Rick made his grand entrance. Wasting no time, the Hypa Dawg went straight into the thick of it, making his way through the ropes to deliver a high-energy performance. Fans erupted as he belted out some of his biggest hits, including Guh Dung, All Is Rum, and Hard Wine, ensuring that the participants got a taste of his signature style. With spirits still high, the festivities culminated on the grounds of the Cave Hill campus. (STT) Barbados Today Stay informed and engaged with our digital news platform.
