Suriname sweeps podium at IFBB Roger Boyce World Cup Pro

Suriname’s athletes proved their mettle at the 2025 IFBB Roger Boyce World Cup Pro held this weekend at the Wildey Gymnasium, sweeping the men’s bodybuilding division and making a commanding impression across multiple categories. 

The highlight of the night came as reigning champion Eddy Wilson of Suriname once again solidified his dominance in the premier bodybuilding category, clinching his third consecutive title with a well-structured body. 

Wilson’s return to the top was emphatic, defeating his closest rivals and fellow countrymen, Soepe Koese and Faizel Pinas, who placed second and third, respectively, securing a full Surinamese podium sweep in the marquee category.

In the Men’s Classic Physique division, Suriname celebrated yet another gold through the powerful and composed performance of Randal Haakmat. His chiselled aesthetics and balanced proportions were rewarded by the judges after an exciting showdown. Barbados’ Lamarr Coward also delivered an outstanding routine that many in the crowd believed was worthy of gold. Ultimately, Coward earned a well-deserved silver in front of a home audience, while Adam Senior of Jamaica rounded out the top three.

The Women’s Wellness category showcased fierce international competition. France’s Mathilde Tardieu claimed the top honour with her graceful presentation and refined physique. Venezuelan athletes Johemmy Azuaje and Hailen Longa followed closely, securing second and third places respectively, and adding to their country’s strong legacy in this growing division.

Ramona Morgan of Barbados captured third overall in the women’s Bodyfitness and received a cheque of $1 000 from Minister of Sports Charles Griffith.

Germany’s Michelle Reis was a clear winner ahead of her rivals in the Bikini Fitness category, displaying the perfect blend of poise, proportion, and conditioning. Yana Zueva Smith of Russia captured the silver medal, and Mexico’s Yissel Leon earned bronze in a lineup marked by global flair and glamour.

Barbados celebrated impressive home performances in the Women’s Bodyfitness division, with Ramona Morgan placing third and Dionne Thompson securing fifth against a competitive international field. Sweden’s Josefin Petterson took top honours with a striking routine, followed by Anastasiya Voskresenka of Ukraine in second place. Morgan’s performance, backed by strong crowd support, was praised for its technical execution as she brought great stage presence with beauty and poise.

Russia’s Ivan Gekov emerged victorious in the Men’s Physique, demonstrating both equilibrium and charisma. Tony Jacobs of Antigua and Barbuda claimed second place, while Jamaica’s Kashane McFarlene completed the top three.

In Women’s Physique, Brazil’s Ester Ferreira delivered a commanding routine to take the top spot in that division. Her exceptional muscle definition and stage control edged out Russia’s Ekaterina Petrova and Austria’s Adrijana Riva, who finished second and third, respectively. (AS)
