Wildey take early season lead

The Wildey cricket team created separation at the top of the standings in the 2025 Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) Elite division three-day Championship when they easily defeated Sagicor Windward by 121 runs at the Lucas Street playing field on Saturday.

Resuming day three with a 171-run lead and seven wickets in hand, Wildey pushed their advantage to 253 before declaring their second innings on 137 for 9.

Off-spinner Tariq Oneale who resumed the day as the night watchman, top scored with an unbeaten 36 while Chad Williams picked up 7 wickets to finish with a match total of 12 for Windward.

During their second innings, Windward were in an identical position as their first at 72 for 1. As fate would have it, Seth Agard would also lose his wicket at this time, and the collapse would begin for the home team just as it did on day two.

Agard was dismissed yet again by Jerome Jones for the top score of 42 while Windward lost their final nine wickets for only 60 runs to be bowled out for 132 in 41.4 overs.

Jones added a five-wicket haul to finish the game with a total of nine wickets for Wildey, who are a clear 21 points above their nearest challengers after three series of games.

Scores: Wildey beat Sagicor Windward by 121 runs.

Windward 171 all out (57.3 overs) (Jafari Toppin 45; Jerome Jones 4-37) and 132 all out (41.4 overs) (Seth Agard 42, Jerome Jones 5-28)

Points: Wildey 19 (Outright win 12, Batting 3, Bowling 4), Windward 4 (Bowling 4).

Bayview Hospital YMPC jumped to second place in the standings with 34 points when they came out victorious against bottom of the table team IGS Insurance Brokers Yorkshire at Beckles Road.

Led by Shamar Marshall’s 7-wicket haul in the second innings, YMPC bowled out Yorkshire for 137 to set up a late evening win by five wickets. Marshall sent down 22

overs as he and former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Smith, picked up all 10 wickets of the innings. Opening batter Athelbert Brathwaite top scored for Yorkshire with 56.

With a target of 112 for victory and rain looming, YMPC batters started aggressively with Raymond Kellman setting the tone of the innings, scoring 27 in 19 balls while Edwin Currency-Barnett led the way with 29 in 44 balls as YMPC reached their total, 113 for 5.

Scores: Bayview Hospital YMPC beat IGS Insurance Brokers Yorkshire by five wickets.

Yorkshire 209 all out (47.1 overs) (Shakeel Richards 69; Kemar Smith 6-66) and 137 all out (43 overs) (Athelbert Brathwaite 56; Shamar Marshall 7-59, Dwayne Smith 3-22).

YMPC 234 all out (48.4 overs) (Kemar Smith 44; Shakeem John-Ruck 8-68) and 113-5 (23.4 overs) (Edwin Currency-Barnett 29, Raymond Kellman 27).

Points: YMPC 19 (Outright win 12, Batting 3, Bowling 4), Yorkshire 6 (Batting 2, Bowling 4).

The upset of the tournament thus far came from the SigniaGlobe Financial BCA Youth as they handled ESA Field Pickwick rather easily by five wickets at the Lester Vaughan school grounds, Cane Garden.

Resuming day three needing a further 117 runs and 8 wickets in hand, Captain Joshua Dorne batted superbly to take his overnight score of 9 to an unbeaten knock of 65, leading his team to a well-earned win. Dorne faced 66 balls and scored 8 fours and 1 six during his innings as the BCA Youth scored 144 for 5 in 26.4 overs.

With this victory the Youth earned a total of 16 points and jumped to fourth in the standings on 33.

Scores: SigniaGlobe Financial BCA Youth beat ESA Field Pickwick by five wickets.

Pickwick 62 all out (25 overs) (Jakeem Pollard 5-19) and 256 all out (49.5 overs) (Rohan Ryan 67, Hayley Matthews 60, Antonio Morris 51 not out).

BCA Youth 177 all out (42.4 overs) and 144-5 (26.4 overs) (Joshua Dorne 65 not out).

Points: BCA Youth 16 (Outright win 12, Bowling 4), Pickwick 4 (Bowling 4).
