Local NewsOpinion Dr Browne’s comments on tint off target by Barbados Today 05/06/2025 written by Barbados Today 05/06/2025 1 min read A+A- Reset Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 474 I wonder if St Philip North Dr Sonia Browne is aware that donkey years ago our legislators saw how important it was to legislate on tint. The law relating to tint was on our statute books for donkey years. However, the law left it to the discretion of the police to determine how dark was too dark. Now years later, we are trying to update the law by inserting the degree of tint that is legal, thus removing police discretion from the mix. Why this should be an issue is beyond me. In fact, it was not even worthy of debate in Parliament. And yes, that the change will go a long way in assisting police in the fight against crime cannot be denied. Let me echo Dr Browne’s call for stats by asking for stats on the number of accidents in Barbados caused by bright headlights. Get my drift? Dr Browne’s dissenting voice in past debates is to be commended but this time she has surely missed the mark. In my opinion, much of the push back is as a result of the inconvenience it will cause to individuals who have to make the adjustment rather than the merit of the amendment.
