According to reports, a barrage of gunfire was heard in the area shortly before 3 a.m. Public Affairs and Communications Officer of the Barbados Police Service, Acting Inspector Ryan Brathwaite, confirmed that the Police Operations Control Room received a report of gunshots at the corner of 5th Avenue Peterkins and Peterkins Main Road.
