Local News Roundabouts coming for high-risk junctions by Sheria Brathwaite 25/06/2025 written by Sheria Brathwaite Updated by Barbados Today 25/06/2025 1 min read A+A- Reset Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappThreadsBlueskyEmail 163 Several high-traffic, accident-prone junctions in St George and elsewhere in Barbados are set to benefit from the construction of roundabouts, as part of efforts to improve road safety and ease congestion during peak hours. Minister of Housing, Lands and Maintenance Dwight Sutherland made the announcement on Monday night during the St George Ideas Forum, held at The Glebe, where residents raised long-standing concerns about traffic build-up and dangerous intersections in the parish. While he acknowledged public frustration with the pace of implementation, he assured attendees that progress was being made. “We can’t do everything one time. We’re doing a roundabout at Windsor and that will come too—I don’t want to say where, but we have the designs, we have the approvals, and that should start shortly,” he said. Sutherland, who is also the MP for St George South, added that another project is in the pipeline for Sweet Bottom, another junction notorious for congestion and risk. “We know that is a very challenging junction… so we can’t do all one time, so bear with us,” he said. “The designs are finished, and we’ll get to each of them, hopefully within the very near future.” (SZB) You Might Be Interested In Crystal Beckles-Holder, 2nd runner up in regional competition GUYANA: Body of child found after gold mine collapses Barbadians asked to help with return tickets for Haitians Sheria Brathwaite You may also like What are the alternatives to corporal punishment? 17/07/2025 Stay safe, stay vigilant amid rising crime 17/07/2025 Health initiative launched for artistes 17/07/2025
