Construction is underway on phase one, The Steel Building, which will include 39 apartments, retail and dining outlets, a beach club and improved waterfront access. “The response has been fantastic,” a project spokesperson told Barbados TODAY. “At this stage, enquiries are focused on registering reservations in the apartments of The Steel Building. We’re also seeing strong interest from the local hospitality, tourism, and retail sectors for leasing the commercial units planned for the ground floors of the first three buildings and the Beach Club. “Right now, it’s primarily local. We’ve not yet started any overseas marketing, as we wanted locals to have the first opportunity to be part of The Pierhead…. Overseas marketing will begin in late 2025.” Small Barbadian operators are also keen to join, with fishing and cruising boats expected to return to the Careenage in due course. The spokesperson called the demand a sign of pent-up appetite for Bridgetown’s revitalisation. Future phases, House of Pillars (2027-2028) and Bridge House (2029-2031), will add 139 more apartments and expanded commercial spaces.
