The occasion, held under the patronage of Acting President His Excellency the Very Reverend Dr Jeffrey Gibson, unfolded with full military pomp and pageantry, befitting the legacy of a force that has served the nation with distinction for nearly half a century. Addressing the gathering, Chief of Staff Brigadier Carlos Lovell said the BDF had acted as a shield and a beacon for the past 46 years, protecting Barbados and illuminating pathways for future generations. He noted that, much like Barbados itself, “the BDF punches above its weight class in any arena,” citing its service in defending the island’s shores, supporting regional partners, and responding to disasters—including its pivotal role during the global COVID-19 pandemic.
