Local News Flash-flood warning in effect for Barbados by Barbados Today 23/09/2025 written by Barbados Today 23/09/2025 1 min read A+A- Reset FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 397 The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) has extended the flash-flood watch for the island until 6 p.m. Tuesday, reporting persistent unstable weather conditions across the island. According to the BMS, although most of the rainfall activity occurred earlier in the day, there remains a possibility of moderate to intense showers and isolated thunderstorms during the afternoon as the tropical wave continues to affect the island. Rainfall between 15mm and 30mm has already been recorded in several areas, prompting officials to warn of potential flooding, particularly in low-lying and coastal areas, near hillsides, and on some traffic routes, which may become impassable. The public is urged to remain alert and monitor updates from the BMS, the Department of Emergency Management (DEM), and the Government Information Service (GIS). A flash-flood watch signals the possibility of flooding and can be issued up to 48 hours in advance.
