Gabriel, of Kendal Hill B, Christ Church, pleaded guilty that, knowing or believing that Scott Harewood had committed the offence of murder, he provided a place of abode for Harewood, with intent to impede his apprehension or prosecution. The offence took place on July 11, 2014. When Gabriel was arrested after police found Harewood hiding in his ceiling, he told lawmen, “Officer, I sorry bout this thing. I was trying to help a friend and hide him from this charge.” State Counsel Maya Kellman read Gabriel’s written statement into evidence in the No. 4 Supreme Court. In the document, Gabriel said that Ratty (Harewood) came to his house, saying he had been sent there to ‘hold out’. “I know that Ratty was wanted by the police for murder. He told me so, and I heard the talk on the streets. I was doing a favour for him. The police came by me last Friday and I tell Ratty them outside and he hide and still get hold. I was brought to Oistins Police Station and I knew he was telling police lies when he gave them the wrong name and address. I am sorry that I help Ratty hide out from the police at my home,” he said. Justice Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell ordered a pre-sentence report for Gabriel, who has five previous convictions — including having, trafficking and intending to supply cocaine, theft and a bond breach. The matter was adjourned until January 13, 2026. Gabriel is represented by Defence Attorney Kelly-Ann Blackman.
