A truck carrying heavy equipment has caused a major traffic build-up and a power outage in Wildey, St Michael, after the bucket it was transporting struck overhead utility wires early Friday morning. The incident occurred just after 6 a.m. near the Rubis Service Station. According to Valenta, the station’s assistant supervisor, “Upon approaching the corner, the bucket caught the wires, causing the pole to split in half and the electricity to go out. Light & Power came and turned the power off. We’re currently operating on our generator… it’s business as usual, and we have enough fuel to assist customers.”As of this morning, teams from the Barbados Light & Power Company and telecommunications provider Flow remain on the scene conducting repairs, while traffic continues to move slowly through the area.Motorists are being urged to proceed with caution as restoration work continues.
