As police entered a home, they found Livardo Rogelio Hinds sitting on the sofa with a clothes basket next to him.

A search of that basket and the shopping bag inside revealed packages of cannabis and a black and silver firearm.

Appearing before Justice Elwood Watts in the No. 2A Supreme Court, Hinds pleaded guilty that on July 6, 2024, he had an unlicensed firearm with 26 rounds of ammunition. He also admitted to having 1.09 kilogrammes of cannabis.

Defence attorney Shadia Simpson represented Hinds.

State Counsel Dr Zoe King, who prosecuted the case, outlined the facts.

Police were executing a search warrant at a home in Glendairy Road, Bridge Road, St Michael. They found the front door open and entered. They saw Hinds sitting on a sofa in the living room and explained their presence while handing over a copy of the warrant.

They observed a brown wooden clothes basket next to him with a blue and black shopping bag inside, containing four transparent bags with vegetable matter suspected to be cannabis. When the bag was removed, a firearm with an extended magazine attached was in the basket, along with a ski mask and a firearm holder.

Hinds denied knowledge and ownership of the firearm and ammunition but admitted that the cannabis was his. Other people in the home also denied ownership of the gun, a 9mm Luger calibre semi-automatic pistol.
The case continues on November 18.
