Nurse, of Accommodation Road, Bush Hall, St Michael, has denied unlawfully disposing of the body of Rasheeda Bascombe between January 2, 2002 and May 30, 2013. Bascombe was 12 years old when she went missing on January 2, 2002. During the trial, the nine-member jury heard evidence from several witnesses, including police officers and Bascombe’s sisters, while the statements of her mother, Hermena Straker, who is now deceased, were read into evidence. Nurse opted to remain silent when the options for giving his defence were read to him and called no witnesses. Principal State Counsel Olivia Davis, along with State Counsel Tito Holder, is prosecuting the case while attorney Lennox Miller represents the accused man.
