In a statement issued recently, the ministry said recent assessments revealed that several products labelled “distilled” or “deionised” do not meet the required health standards. As a result, the public is being strongly advised to use these products only for the purposes stated on their labels, and not for household consumption or personal use. Health officials also reminded medical and clinical facilities that some of these products are not suitable for clinical procedures, as their safety and quality for health-care use cannot be assured. For further guidance, members of the public may contact the Environmental Health Department at 536-3854 or 536-3855. Barbados Today Stay informed and engaged with our digital news platform.
