Agard pleaded guilty to resisting and assaulting Special Constable Anthony Belgrave while performing his duties on Monday. Prosecutor Station Sergeant Chrisna Williams said officers responded to a report of a fight near the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex. Agard’s girlfriend told police he had beaten her but declined further action. But Agard attempted to strike her again in their presence, prompting the officers to intervene. He then grabbed Belgrave’s shirt and struggled before being subdued by other officers. Addressing the court, Agard said, “I was in a fight and I had a little too much to drink that night. It is not characteristic of me. I honestly cannot recall much of what happened. Any information I was able to give was based on third parties, from the officers and other persons who witnessed the altercation. I have asked the interviewing officer to apologise to the special constable because I was intoxicated and not acting myself and I would like to apologise to the court as well.” “Do you recall what you were drinking?” Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes asked. “Yes, rum and [an energy drink],” Agard replied.
