Marlon Damien Weekes, a 42-year-old general worker, appeared before Magistrate Manila Renee in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court, accused that on December 18 he unlawfully wounded Norman Knight with intent to maim, disfigure or disable him, or to do some other serious bodily harm to Knight. The charge is indictable, and no plea was taken. Weekes denied ever receiving any notices from the police regarding the complainant. But a police sergeant told the court that he had responded to one of those calls and found the accused intoxicated and sleeping on top of a vehicle with a pair of scissors in his hand. “Apparently, he drinks a lot, and I took the scissors from him, and he did not even know,” Sergeant Osbourne said. Noting that the accused’s previous conviction, while dated, was for possession of an offensive weapon, Magistrate Manila Renee remanded Weekes until January 20.
