Police said the Operations Control Room received a report at about 7:37 p.m. of gunshots being heard in the vicinity of the beach. Officers were dispatched to the scene, where they found the body of a male. Medical assistance was sought, and a doctor later attended the scene, examined the body and pronounced the man dead. Investigations into the matter are continuing. Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information that could assist the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800-8477, Police Emergency at 211, or the Hastings/Worthing Police Station at 430-7614 or 430-7615.
