Police say the incident occurred around 12 p.m. at the junction with Sandford. Preliminary investigations indicate that a motor van was travelling along Lucas Street in the direction of King George V Memorial Park when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a concrete structure. The male driver was transported by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. A male passenger, who was also in the vehicle, was taken to a medical clinic for urgent treatment. Police from District โCโ Station are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
