A Back Ivy, St Michael man has been convicted of murder after a unanimous verdict by a 12-member jury.

After almost three hours of deliberation, the jury of eight women and four men found Richan Robert Walrond guilty of the shooting death of Andre Hinds of Northumberland, St Lucy, on August 25, 2016.

Walrond, who remains on remand at Dodds Prison, will return to the No. 3 Supreme Court before Justice Carlisle Greaves on June 19 for sentencing.

Acting Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Krystal Delaney and Acting Senior State Counsel Anastacia McMeo-Boyce prosecuted, while Walrond was represented by defence attorneys Safiya Moore and Michael Rivera.
