Two remanded, teen granted bail in alleged robbery of elderly folk

Two young adults have been remanded to Dodds Prison while a teenager was granted bail after multiple robbery charges involving elderly complainants were brought before the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.

Anayah Alexia Hall-Callender and I-Rone Immanuel Judah Harris, both 22 of Marine Square, Westbury Road, St Michael, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Douglas Frederick and pleaded not guilty to robbing Radford Mayers and Cleveson Newton on May 5.

The court heard that Mayers was robbed of identification cards, clothing items and $110, totalling $395, while Newton was allegedly robbed of a wallet, bank cards and cash valued at $450.

Hall-Callender is also facing separate charges of dishonestly obtaining goods valued at $20 and $30 from Sol Barbados, with intent to deprive Cleveson Newton by falsely representing that she was in lawful possession of his Visa debit card and had permission to use it. She denied those offences.

Additionally, Hall-Callender and a 16-year-old female pleaded not guilty to robbing John Codrington of items valued at $104.70 and Christopher Herbert of a wallet and $400 in cash on May 4.

Prosecutor Sergeant Victoria Clarke objected to bail for all accused, citing, among other things, that the offences allegedly occurred across several jurisdictions and involved vulnerable elderly complainants.

Magistrate Frederick granted the 16-year-old bail in the sum of $3 000, but remanded Hall-Callender and Harris to Dodds Prison.

All accused are scheduled to return to court on June 10.

Attorney Marlon Gordon appeared amicus for Hall-Callender, while defence counsel Kyle Walkes represented Harris, and attorney Sade Harris represented the teenager.
