Dottin hoping to peak at the right time

West Indies Womens’ all-rounder Deandra Dottin is hoping to hit top form at the right time as the regional side prepares to challenge for the ICC T20 World Cup.

The tournament gets underway on Friday with West Indies opposing defending champions New Zealand in their opening game on Saturday.

The Barbadian top scored with 48 off 38 balls on Thursday in a six-wicket defeat to Australia in a warm up encounter. 

It was the second straight warm up defeat for West Indies, who were also beaten by India on Monday.

“It’s basically for me to occupy the crease and to find some form and get some runs, so that I’m actually peaking at the right time for for my team. 

“I think that I’ve been putting a lot of hard work in the past, working on a lot of things and changing out a couple of things. At first I was being hard on myself and putting pressure on myself, because things weren’t going the way I wanted it to,” Dottin said.

“But I think that that was actually how the pattern was supposed to go, I wasn’t supposed to peak too early, so now that I’m actually getting some runs and getting a feel of it, then it’s really good it’s coming at the right time.”
