The Ministry of the Environment, National Beautification and Fisheries has announced that all fish markets and fish landing sites will close today, Monday, June 15, at 2 p.m., following the sudden death of Chief Fisheries Officer Dr Shelly-Ann Cox.

The temporary closure will allow staff to access grief counselling in the wake of her passing.

Operations are expected to resume on Tuesday, June 16.

The ministry has thanked the public for its understanding as staff mourn Dr Cox, who dedicated her career to the development of Barbados’ fishing communities.
