A 37-year-old mason has been remanded to prison after denying a charge of unlawfully wounding a woman, after the prosecution opposed bail.

Rayon Anthony Powley of Mount Friendship, St Michael, appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Douglas Frederick and pleaded not guilty that on June 20, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Chloe Marville.ย ย

Prosecutor Sergeant Gazelda Knights objected to bail, saying that the complainant had allegedly received several injuries due to the alleged incident and that the two lived in the same home.ย ย

Defence lawyer Shadia Simpson, who represented the accused, pointed out that her client was not known to the court, was the primary breadwinner, and was willing to relocate and abide by any bail conditions set.ย ย

Powley was remanded to Dodds Prison until July 6.
