Man remanded on two rape charges

A Christ Church man accused of raping a woman on consecutive days has been denied bail and remanded to Dodds Prison.

Ian Alleyne Farrell, 38, of Regency Park, is accused that on July 6 he had sexual intercourse with a woman without her consent, knowing she did not consent or was reckless as to whether she consented. He is also charged with the same offence which allegedly occurred on July 7 against the same complainant.

During his appearance in the No. 2 District A Magistrates’ Court, prosecutor Sergeant Gazelda Knights objected to his release, saying he was already on bail from that court and No. 1 on other serious charges.

Farrell told the court that he does “not give any trouble” and spent his time “out there working”.

Magistrate Manila Renee denied bail and remanded the accused to Dodds Prison until August 10.
