Accused claims complainants don’t exist

A man facing multiple charges has denied the allegations, telling a Bridgetown court that the named complainants do not exist.

Everett Nigel Worrell, 52, of no fixed address, pleaded not guilty to criminally damaging two deadbolt locks belonging to Andrea Hinkson at Bush Hall, and to unlawfully entering the premises occupied by Dave Watson, having been forbidden to do so by the occupier on July 11.

He also denied that on June 15, he used threatening words “I gine kill you, ya **”, towards Mark Griffith in the No. 1 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.

Prosecutor Sergeant Reginald Blackman objected to bail, citing the man’s lack of a permanent residence as a major reason to deny his release.

But Worrell told the court he lived on Review Road, though he admitted it was an abandoned property and not his own.

He told the magistrate: “Sir, I have an issue with these charges because none of those persons on those charge sheets do not exist. So I do not know how my name get called for them.”

“You may not know them by their real names,” Acting Chief Magistrate Douglas Frederick said.

When the issue of a surety was raised, Worrell said: “I just need personal bail and 24 hours to get somebody to sign for me.”

“I am not giving you personal bail because I must be able to find you, so I am going to remand you, which will give you time to find someone responsible who will sign for you,” Frederick said before remanding Worrell to Dodds Prison until August 18.
