A nine-member jury has convicted Jhakira Matthews and Jurdie Miller for their roles in a 2021 assault at the Princess Alice Bus Terminal, returning unanimous and majority verdicts respectively after more than two hours of deliberation.

Matthews, of Scotts Terrace, Grazettes, was found guilty of causing serious bodily harm with intent to Glen Wilson on May 31, 2021. Co-accused Miller, of Mile-and-a-Quarter, St Peter, was guilty of the lesser offence of unlawfully and maliciously inflicting serious bodily harm.ย ย ย

Justice Pamela Beckles remanded the two to Dodds Prison and they will return on July 30 for the complainant to appear.ย ย

Following the verdict, the court was informed that Miller had 33 previous convictions, while Matthews was previously clear. Both represented themselves.ย ย ย

Acting Senior State Counsel Maya Kellman prosecuted the case.ย ย
