Breedy eyes Pan Am Championships

Barbadian boxer Jabali Breedy has set his sights on greater success after claiming bronze in the men’s 55kg division at the Central American and Caribbean Games in the Dominican Republic.

Speaking to Barbados TODAY after arriving at Grantley Adams International Airport on Sunday, Breedy described the campaign as another successful chapter in his career, but made it clear he wants more.

“My performance was good because I was in a training camp for about six to eight weeks beforehand and this is my second time getting a bronze medal at the CAC Games.

 “The level of competition was tough because we were up against good opponents like Olympians who previously won medals, so it was a really tough competition,” he said.

Breedy described the moment he clinched the bronze medal.

“I was feeling good but we were going for gold and I felt a bit sorry that we didn’t get it, but I am still happy to bring home a medal for Barbados and make the country proud.

“Up next for me is the Pan Am Games and I am just looking to get more wins and build my record. I want to be an undisputed champion, the first Bajan to ever get four belts in a weight class,” Breedy stated.

“It was pretty intense because you have people from countries that have been preparing since last year or earlier this year, and we actually went to one of the preparation programs, so we knew what to expect and 

it didn’t surprise us. 

“Breedy is always confident, always believes he can do it and he did a fantastic job. The other boxers tried their best as well,” Bowen said.
