Nurse, chef on bail on theft, deception charges

As a condition of her bail, a 25-year-old woman accused of theft and criminal deception turned in her passport to the No. 2  District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Tarajae Abegail Vickers, a nurse and chef from 3rd Avenue Spring Garden, St Michael, is accused of dishonestly obtaining $110 worth of items from Informal Bling on May 11 by falsely representing she was allowed to use a CIBC Caribbean Bank Visa debit card in Olive Stuart’s name.

She is also accused of getting $55 and $149 worth of items from D Game Store on the same day by falsely representing she was allowed to use the same CIBC Caribbean Bank Visa debit card.

Vickers is charged with dishonestly obtaining $220 in articles from Caribbean Queen Beauty on May 12, $465 in articles from Informal Bling on May 13 and $65.90 in food from Chefette Restaurant on May 14, all by falsely representing she was allowed to use the same debit card.

She is also accused of stealing $3 000 in cash from Olive Stuart on May 13.

No pleas were taken when Magistrate Manila Renee read the charges.

Since the prosecution did not object, Vickers was released on $7 500 bail and told to hand in her passport.

The matter will continue on November 26.

Defence attorney Simon Clarke is representing Vickers.
