Nurse advances to BRTO Round of 16

Defending BRTO Champion Shakeem Nurse is the latest player to advance to the men’s Round of 16, in this year’s Barbados Open Road Tennis Competition.

Playing in the Round of 32 at the Deighton Pa Roach facility at Bush Hall St Michael on Monday, Nurse proved to be too strong for Kerry TC Francis, as he eased to victory in straight sets 21-15, 21-17.

In his first outing of the competition Nurse looked to be in great touch, but his inclination for big shots resulted in numerous unforced errors.

In other results, number 14 seed Shawn Spencer defeated Seth Best in straight sets 21-17, 21-15 inside 33 minutes.

Dwayne Lynch also proved too strong for Daniel King, as he defeated him

in straight sets 21-14, 21-15.

All of the winners in the Round of 32 have advanced to the Round of 16, where they are guaranteed prize money of at least $1 000 each.

Play in the Barbados Road Tennis Open continues at Diamond Corner in St Peter on Wednesday September 2.
