Flow back-to-school giveback helps scores of students

Flow Barbados helped families prepare for the new school year by supporting scores of students, including those from vulnerable households, through a two-day back-to-school give-back activation.
The two-day initiative held last Friday, September 4 and Saturday, September 5 extended Flow’s Back-to-School campaign beyond products and promotions, creating opportunities for children and families to enjoy a fun, supportive experience while receiving practical assistance ahead of the new school term.

The first day of activities took place at Flow’s Customer Experience Centre at Windsor Lodge, St Michael, building on a smaller-scale community outreach hosted at the location last year. This year, the initiative was expanded, with the leading telecommunications provider partnering with the One Family Programme yet again to ensure that some of the more vulnerable students could benefit.

The One Family Programme is a national initiative, led by the Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, which helps vulnerable households transition beyond traditional welfare towards greater self-sufficiency.
Students enjoyed a range of activities including face painting, games, music, snack and painting, and giveaways. A major highlight was the complimentary haircuts and hair braiding provided by Gomez Barber Studio, helping students head back to school feeling fresh and confident. Snacks and beverages were also provided, with support from Pinehill Dairy, Banks Holdings Limited (BHL), WIBISCO and Smiley Sno-Cones.

Flow team members were also actively involved, engaging with children and families and creating a warm, welcoming environment. Adding to the team spirit was a “Rep Your Alma Mater” theme, with employees and influencers showing off their school colours, ties and memorabilia.

The Back-to-School experience continued Saturday at National Heroes Square, where customers had the opportunity to explore Flow’s Back-to-School offers while enjoying rewards, entertainment, and giveaways.
Customers could Spin to Win prizes and vouchers from Massy Stores, Abed’s, and Bridgetown Duty Free, while Back-to-School breakfast bundles were also available. Customers also had opportunities to win Samsung tablets and CPL tickets through the promotion, along with onsite CPL giveaways. Popular artistes and Flow rep DoeJay added to the entertainment during the afternoon.

Senior Manager, Communications at Flow, Toni Yarde, said the initiative reflects Flow’s commitment to supporting communities.

“Back to School can be an exciting time for children, but we recognise that it can also be a significant financial burden for families. That is why we wanted to do more than simply promote Backto-School offers. We wanted to give back in a way that was meaningful, practical, and enjoyable for children and their families,” said Yarde.

“This is our second year partnering with the One Family Programme for this project. The partnership allowed us to reach families who may need additional support, while bringing our employees, customers, and community partners together. At Flow, giving back is about being present where we live and work and finding tangible ways to make a difference.”

The two-day activation forms part of Flow’s wider Back-to-School campaign, which continues across its retail stores with offers, rewards, and opportunities to get connected. (PR)
