BFA Kotex Women’s League – Paradise run riot in 12-0 rout of Whitehall

Paradise maintained their lead at the top of the Barbados Football Association’s Kotex Women’s League, following a comprehensive 12-0 victory over Whitehall on home turf at Dover on Tuesday.

The table-topping side opened the scoring via Soroya Toppin-Herbert, who got the first of her two goals in the 11th minute.

Acacia Small has been one of the team’s leading goalscorers this season, and her four-goal haul on Tuesday began in the 13th minute, before Shanice Stevenson made it 3-0 to Paradise two minutes later, with the first of her two goals.

Small was on target once again in the 22nd minute, before Denea Payne made it 5-0 to Paradise in the 38th minute, with there then being no change in the scoreline until half-time.

The nightmare went from bad to worse for Whitehall in the second half, however, as Small’s remaining two goals advanced the scoreline to 7-0 in Paradise’s favour by the 52nd minute, with Chioma Henry adding another goal in the 55th minute.

Rihanna Cyrus, Stevenson and Keinelle Johnson all grabbed goals in the closing stages of the encounter as Paradise wrapped up another emphatic win, which saw them move on to 28 points at the top of the table, four clear of second-placed R.F Prime.

Whitehall are still the league’s bottom club on three points in eighth position.

Earlier, R.F Prime had racked up three more points, following a 2-1 victory over Mavericks.

Taryn Sutherland opened the scoring for R.F Prime in the 41st minute, before Gabrielle Birmingham equalised for Mavericks 14 minutes later. 

With the game seemingly destined for a draw, Daphne Watson-Jones grabbed a late winner for R.F Prime in injury time, as they moved up to 24 points, five clear of third-placed Empire.

Mavericks remain fifth on 12 points.
