Damian Dacosta Forde of Villa Road, Upper Collymore Rock, is charged with assaulting Tyrell Thompson, and wounding Nicholas Boyce with intent to maim, disfigure or disable or to do him some other serious bodily harm. The indictable offences allegedly occurred on September 25. Prosecutor Sergeant Victoria Leacock objected to Forde’s release, saying that it would not be in the public’s interest. She told Acting Chief Magistrate Douglas Frederick that an offensive weapon – a sword – had allegedly been used, that one of the complainants was still hospitalised waiting surgery, and that the other had been threatened. Defence counsel Ensley Grainger said that based on his instructions, his client had been the subject of threats and had made complaints to the police. In addition, he said that Forde was gainfully employed, not known to the courts and not a threat to the public. Chief Magistrate Frederick denied bail and remanded Forde until October 29.
