A 23-year-old vendor who is accused of burglarizing several homes including that of former acting Governor General Sir Philip Greaves will make his next appearance in the District ‘B’ Oistins Magistrates’ Court on January 8.
Magistrate Douglas Frederick remanded Sherwin Leroy Forde, of 1st Avenue Vauxhall, Christ Church when he appeared in the No. 1 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.
Forde was not required to plea to seven criminal offences as they all allegedly occurred in the District ‘B’ jurisdiction.
It is alleged that he entered Sir Philip’s home on August 2 and stole a $1,200 television, eight bottles of alcohol worth $1,101 and $20 cash.
He is also alleged to have stolen from the home of Steve Belmar on June 9 an Xbox console worth $1,020, eight Xbox games worth $1,517, three pairs of shoes worth $450, three pairs of slippers worth $540, an $800 cellular phone and a $300 watch belonging to Aaron Osbourne as well as US$600, a $240 pair of earrings, a $60 suit case and a pair of WIFI speakers worth $500.
Forde is also accused of entering Mary Bradshaw’s home and stealing BDS$60 and US$40 in cash belonging to Matthew Forde; BDS$4,600 belonging to Joyce Clement as well as two pairs of earrings worth $2,400, a quantity of jewelry worth $600 and BDS$600 cash belonging to the homeowner on July 8. Corina Wheatley was reportedly his next victim that same day when he is alleged to have stolen an iPhone worth $1,590, a $50 handbag, two pairs of sunglasses worth $760 and a bag of toiletries worth $100.
The accused is also accused of loitering on the premises on Maria Brooker on December 12 when it was suspected that he intended to commit burglary.
Tamara Gaskin and Maria Taylor also reported burglaries for which Forde was charged. He reportedly entered Gaskin’s home between September 2 and 7, 2017 and stole three gold rings worth $3,700 and $340 in cash belonging to her. Taylor’s home was entered between November 11 and 12, 2017 and a $200 cash pan and $25 cash were stolen.
Prosecutor Station Sergeant Carrison Henry objected to bail on the grounds of the seriousness of the charges leveled against Forde as well as for the protection of society and the accused.
When it was his turn to make a bail application Forde said: “I never come into court yet so I don’t know what to say.”
