After months of uncertainty, four Trinidad and Tobago-born footballers who plied their trade with Paradise Football Club finally returned home yesterday to the twin-island republic.

Shirlo Johnson, Shackiel Henry, Dwight Pope and Garnet Diaz who played in the Coca-Cola Barbados Football Association Premier League for the Dover-based Paradise team travelled via a Caribbean Airlines flight around 2.p.m yesterday.

Barbados Football Association president Randy Harris, general secretary Edwyn Wood and president of the Paradise Club Adrian Donovan were all at the Grantley Adams International Airport to see the players off.

โ€œWe received excellent news this morning. A few moments ago we were granted permission from the Minister of National Security Stuart Young in Trinidad and Tobago, PS Joseph (permanent secretary Sandra Joseph) and all the relevant ministries in Trinidad. The four footballers are now on their way to the airport to catch a flight along with the UWI students on Caribbean Airways, โ€œ Donovan said.

Just a few weeks ago all four players were tested for COVID-19 by Dr. Adrian Lorde and all the results returned negative.
