Ghanaian nurse tests positive for Malaria

One of the Ghanaian nurses has tested positive for Malaria.

Local health officials briefed members of the press at the Ministry of Health this afternoon.The team of Dr Corey Forde, Chief Medical Officer (ag), Dr Kenneth George and Head of the COVID monitoring unit Ronald Chapman have assured Barbadians that the male nurse is doing well and that they have nothing to fear.

The team said the Ministry of Health has been able to source medicine to treat the nurse but they could not at this stage give timelines for the period of isolation of the nurse.

Barbados has not recorded a local case of malaria for over 60 years however the country deals with 2-3 imported cases a year and according to Dr George.
