Flow, CBC TV8 raise the bar

Flow Evo customers are now enjoying programming from the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in high-definition.

Barbados’ leading telecommunications provider recently completed the installation of new equipment at both its headend and CBC’s headquarters in The Pine paving the way for the country’s lone over-the-air television channel to be delivered in HD via the company’s fibre-optic network.

“This is a great moment for both Flow and CBC, as our television customers can now enjoy some of their favourite local programming at a higher resolution with significantly better quality.

“It also means that more local homes than ever before will now be receiving CBC’s HD signal,” said Marilyn Sealy, Senior Manager, Communications, South Caribbean, Flow.

CBC TV8 is listed as channel 103 on Flow Evo and now joins over 135 channels that are currently available in HD. As an added bonus, customers can now also watch CBC’s programming in HD on mobile devices using the company’s Flow-To-Go app and they also have the ability to replay, restart and record at any time on any device.

“This was a significant undertaking against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic but we were able to successfully complete this project in time for the New Year and we look forward to our sustained collaboration with CBC to the benefit of all Barbadians,” added Sealy.

Sanka Price, Chief Executive Officer, CBC, welcomed the development and congratulated the technical teams for working to improve the way CBC TV8 is delivered on the Flow Evo platform.

“We are delighted the TV8 signal has been upgraded on the Flow network and we remain committed to working with all industry partners to ensure our national programming and advertisers’ message are delivered to as wide an audience as possible with the best possible picture quality,” he said.

Price added: “With our improved programming, which will be gradually introduced over the next several weeks, Flow viewers can be assured of an engaging experience whenever they tune into CBC TV8.”
