CDB head to give Arthur lecture

The inaugural Distinguished Owen S. Arthur Memorial Lecture will be delivered by Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) president Dr. Gene Leon.

The event, which was delayed earlier this year, will take place on Wednesday, September 8 on the topic: Re-designing Economic Growth Strategies. The memorial lecture is being hosted by the Shridath Ramphal Centre for International Trade Law, Policy and Services, and will be carried life on UWI TV (uwitv.org) and on Facebook.

Arthur, an economist, University of the West Indies professor, and the longest-serving prime minister of Barbados, died on July 27, 2020. He took particular interest in trade issues and was a strong proponent of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy.

Dr. Leon, the sixth president of the CDB, took office in May. He has over 35 years of experience in economics, financial policy development, and executive management, more than 20 of which were spent working with the International Monetary Fund. (IMC1)
