The Barbados Town Planning Society is the lead host of Caribbean Urban Forum (CUF) 2022, a “hybrid” event with in-person and virtual sessions. The in-person sessions will be taking place at The Central Bank of Barbados’ conference spaces: The Frank Collymore Hall, Grand Salle and Exchange Museum in Historic Bridgetown. The Caribbean Urban Forum is the main opportunity for practitioners, policy makers and researchers to share experience, knowledge and strategies across the Caribbean. Under the theme: Beyond COVID: Recovery – Renewable – Resilience, CUF 2022 seeks to learn from the experience gained while confronting the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This will include exploring sustainable land management and spatial development strategies and policies for Caribbean small island states as well as addressing the issues of renewable resources, resilience within a global climate crisis, sensitive economies and ecosystem services management. Slated to be an inclusive and diverse event, CUF is inviting practitioners, policy makers, researchers, students and members of the general public interested in the future of Caribbean urban spaces to join the event as we explore the next steps in a world Beyond COVID and climate smart. CUF 2022 co-hosts include the Caribbean Network for Urban and Land Management (CNULM – blueSpace Caribbean) based at the University of the West Indies’ St. Augustine campus. The Prime Minister’s Office in Barbados (PMO), the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
