Grand Kadooment, the first in two years, got off to grand start on Monday.

Excited revellers decked out in colourful costumes showed they were clearly in a party mood as they danced to the sweet sounds of soca on the new route.

Bands will parade from Warrens, travel along the ABC Highway to the Emancipation Statue, then return along the highway and through Waterford to the National Stadium.

The first band to hit the road was Aura followed by Colorz.

Some revellers with Aura told  Barbados TODAY that they could not wait for this day and they are happy to be on the road.

Reveller with Passion Vybz Patricia Wyatt who is known for the viral video I love Crop Over said she was happy to be back after 41 years. She hails from Texas and said that she’s anticipating great vibes.

Welcome Stamper Catherine Beasley was equally delighted to be on the road.  Beasley, a member of the Hijack says she has fallen in love with the island and its  national dish Cou Cou.

Another reveller with Hijack medical student Lauren who is  from Los Angeles told Barbados TODAY  she is very happy to free up and take part in the jump for the first time.

Many Barbadians and visitors were gathered at the Everton Weeks roundabout to view the spectacle of colour.
