Share FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 174 A partnership between the Lion’s Club of Bridgetown and Healing for the Soul Empowerment Network has made it easier for 40 primary and secondary school students to start the new school year with needed supplies. At the weekend, children from the St Michael communities of the Bayland and Brittons Hill were presented with book bags and other school supplies. Executive Director and Founder of Healing for the Soul Empowerment Network Judy Linton said it was the organisation’s give-back to communities across the island. “We know how the last two years have been so difficult and challenging in navigating the system. So, this school year we want to make a difference in the lives of the children and obviously make it less strenuous for parents,” she said. Linton added that COVID-19 hampered the organisation’s work over the last two years. She noted that there has been an increase in calls for help but said the organisation is happy to respond. “The numbers have always grown. You can never have enough. We just wish right now we had so much more. We always asked the different communities to give us numbers so that we can represent [a sizeable number] throughout the island of Barbados. Lion Club of Barbados representative Janelle Farley said the service organisation was pleased to assist the children through its Back-to-School service project in partnership with the Healing for the Soul Empowerment Network.
