Barbadians from all walks of life have ushered in 2023 in their own unique way. Whether opting to celebrate with their inner circle in private settings, or partaking in the range of activities across the island, these moments were spent with those closest to their hearts.

Hundreds of people flocked to the Hilton Hotel to enjoy the fantastic fireworks display. From as early as 8 pm, there was a build-up of traffic as many wanted to beat the rush as they sought to secure the best vantage point.

It was the same for the beach at Holetown in St James, where the party atmosphere attracted a large crowd. As it drew closer to midnight, traffic was gridlocked with many still  hunting for a good location to ring in the new year.

Many opted to enjoy dinner with their loved ones at many of the island’s restaurants. Raddison Aquatica had a capacity crowd, and this location provided an optimum view of the spectacle at the nearby Hilton Hotel. Another restaurant, which was well patronised, was QP Bistro on the west coast. Guests enjoyed the entertainment package, which included a musical presentation by Philip 7 at the beautiful seaside venue.

1st and 2nd Street in Holetown has been one of the places that attracts a mixture of both tourist and locals alike and this year was no different.  The streets were lined with  people  who enjoyed the  party atmosphere with the accompanying  deejay music.

The vibe was electric as many people made their way to the St Lawrence Gap and they traversed through the various venues within the entertainment hub. Reggae lovers had the  opportunity to enjoy a high calibre performance by Romain Virgo.  This celebration which took place at the Halo Ultra Lounge  saw patrons decked out in their finest as they enjoyed the performance by the reggae crooner and his full backing band.  Entertainer Lil Rick was the other featured performer for this event.

Unfortunately, there was some disappointment for those who travelled to the Botanical Gardens to enjoy the fireworks from the show which was to be hosted there. They had missed the alerts that the event had been cancelled.

Despite the cancellation of a few events , many were still in the partying mood. Hundreds of people gathered at Rockfield St Lucy to bask in the rays of the first sunrise of the new year at Limerz Cruise First Light Breakfast Cooler Party. The showers that started the previous night had continued into the morning had left the venue waterlogged and muddy however patrons still had a blast.

Some of those who shied away from these events, chose to start the waking moments of the new year at their respective churches with watch night services. House limes and private parties were also a popular choice. (STT)
