Cricket West Indies (CWI) have announced a supportive management team that will work alongside interim Head Coach Andre Coley when the Caribbean side departs for the red and white ball tours of Zimbabwe and South Africa.

In a press release sent out today Wednesday, CWI named former West Indies and Leeward Islands fast bowler Kenny Benjamin as the bowling coach. Benjamin, born in Antigua and Barbuda will work alongside current West Indies assistant coach, Rayon Griffith who has been part of the West Indies coaching setup since 2019 and also serves as the head coach of the Guyana Amazon Warriors franchise.

Captained by Kraigg Brathwaite, West Indies will play two Test matches against host Zimbabwe commencing February 4th to 8th and February 12th to 16th at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. Following the Test Series, West Indies will play South Africa in three One Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals in March. However, CWI has yet to name its candidate to lead the Caribbean side in the shorter format of the game.

The West Indies management team also includes Manager Rawl Lewis, Physio Denis Byam, Analyst Avenesh Seetaram and Media Officer Dario Barthley. The team will leave this coming weekend and is expected to arrive in Zimbabwe early next week ahead of a three-day warm-up match against a local side set for January 28th to 30th at Bulawayo Athletic Club.

The last Test Series between Zimbabwe and the West Indies was played at Queens Sports Club in October 2017. West Indies won the two-match Series 1-0, winning the first contest by 117 runs with the second Test ending in a draw.

The squad will then travel on to South Africa for West Indies’ last two matches in the current ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle with West Indies placed sixth in the current WTC and South Africa placed fourth. Both sides have the opportunity to improve their position in the final table. (CWI/ML)
