Closure of Frederick Smith Secondary School on March 9 and 10

The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training (METVT) is informing parents/guardians of students of the Frederick Smith Secondary School, located at Trents, St. James, that the school will be closed for all students, tomorrow, Friday, March 10, 2023.

Today, Thursday, March 9, 2023, the Frederick Smith Secondary School had to be closed early due to a shortage of teaching staff. Senior officials of the Ministry of Education held an emergency meeting this morning with the executive members of the Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT).

There will be a follow up meeting tomorrow, Friday, March 10, 2023 with all staff to discuss issues highlighted by the BUT.
It is expected that the school will resume on Monday, March 13, 2023.
