Today, Thursday, March 9, 2023, the Frederick Smith Secondary School had to be closed early due to a shortage of teaching staff. Senior officials of the Ministry of Education held an emergency meeting this morning with the executive members of the Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT). There will be a follow up meeting tomorrow, Friday, March 10, 2023 with all staff to discuss issues highlighted by the BUT. It is expected that the school will resume on Monday, March 13, 2023.
