In a brief interview before several members of the faith took part in a community walkthrough, Bishop Marcus Walrond said that during this period, it was important to remember that Jesus gave his life for all human beings and rose again three days after his death. For more than 60 years, members of the Spiritual Baptist faith have been participating in a memorial activity to commemorate the events leading up to Jesus’ death and resurrection. Members of the Spiritual Baptist Faith staged a walkthrough in several St Michael communities today. Today, they chanted and sang as they marched through a number of St Michael districts within the zonal reach of the Zion’s Apostolic Temple in Richmond Gap, such as the Orleans, Nelson Street, Wellington Street, Fairfield, Black Rock and Deacons Farm. The 100-plus worshipers dressed in their elaborate garments danced and moved in sync with their rhythmic spiritual melodies. He demonstrated love not only in speaking but in his total life and the church must still carry the message of love to all men,” he said. Reverend Shirland Devonish added that the memorial activity was also a major ritual in the faith as it helped worshipers to grow in their faith, be more mindful of other people’s needs, and be more sympathetic and caring towards people.
