As part of the activities to commemorate its 60th anniversary, the Barbados 4-H Foundation recently organised a feeding programme that benefited more than 200 homeless people and others in need.

Hearty meals which consisted of rice and peas, macaroni pie, chicken, fish, ham and vegetables, as well as juice and dessert were distributed at Jubilee Gardens in The City during the activity which was also held to mark World Food Day.

More than 200 people benefited from the feeding programme.

Member of the 4-H committee Marsha Burke said children as young as five years old helped in the exercise by helping to pack the food and dessert and distributing the drinks.

She said it was a learning experience for the young ones who were happy to bring joy to so many people and said they wanted to take part in the activity again.

Burke said this was a key principle of giving back and was pleased that the children understood the importance of caring for others and helping those in need. (SZB)
